I am getting married at the end of the year. I live in Manhattan and I am 32 years old. I have extremely uncomfortable beautiful designer shoes for the wedding and I am wondering if there is any way to make them more comfortable to walk in the day of the wedding? I am trying to avoid wedding day foot pain.
You are not alone as many women choose the best looking shoe for their wedding but not the best shoe for their foot. As such, its only a few hours of discomfort and many women will bear the temporary discomfort wear the designer shoes that will complete their dress.
There are a few things you can do before the wedding day to avoid foot pain from the shoes. The first is knowing any problem areas in your foot, and be sure to try to have the shoe accommodated for you foot. An example is if you have a bunion, you may be able to have the shoe spot stretched to make room for the bunion (remember you don’t have to ruin the shoe, but a little bit of wiggle room may help tremendously). The second thing to do is to line areas that cause pain with moleskin and this will add extra cushion and possibility prevent blisters. The final thing to do is to wear your shoes around the house before the wedding to break them in.
I have found women, such as yourself, who live in NYC tend have experience walking in high heels, so its likely that you will not need any advice there. However, if you don’t have experience wearing heels you may not want to choose the skyscraper heels or the Lady Gaga heels.
