Living in the heart of New York as a 30 year old female I have the privilege of wearing my beautiful designer shoes around the city. My only problem is, I have a not very attractive in-grown toenail on my left foot. Are there any at home remedies for this?
In my Manhattan practice, I see many women with foot problems related to high heels. Ingrown toes can occur with pointy toed shoes – especially on the big toe. So long as the toenail is not infected you can try to keep the nail soft with a urea based creams. Also, having the nail properly trimmed can keep the nail from becoming ingrowing in the first place. I tell some patients to try and pad the inside of the shoe to prevent pressure.
