The WSJ features Dr. Blitz' Bunionplasty ℠January 22, 2013
"Dr. Blitz created a plating system about a year ago that he says allows patients to put weight on the foot soon after surgery. After going to see Dr. Blitz, she [Claudia Ngo, 22] received bunion surgery [bunionplasty] on her right foot and was able to walk with a special surgical shoe right away. "After four weeks I was wearing regular shoes," she says. "Now I'm really happy with my results, it looks perfect," says Ms. Ngo."

High heels in itself are painful to wear (and heels are bad for your feet) but specific foot problems can make wearing heels that much worse.
If you're wearing high heels on New Years, chances are your feet won't be celebrating. Rather, your feet will be experiencing high heel hell. Hours of partying in stilettos can cause all sorts of foot problems and pains throughout night, as well as lead to a high heel hangover the following day.
