As a woman living in New York City I am very into fashion. I unfortunately have chubby ankles. Is it possible to have surgery like liposuction to my ankles to make them look smaller. And will this affect my ability to wear high heels?
Chubby ankles have been nicknamed by the media as “cankles.” This refers to a calf that doesn’t blend shapely into foot, blending the two body parts together. Person can have ‘chubby ankles’ where there is some specific fatty deposition around the ankle, or can have more evenly distributed fatty deposition giving the lower leg a tubular like appearance.
There are anatomic reasons to have ‘larger’ ankles, which are: shorter stature, enlarged deep muscle of the lower leg, a calf muscle that is extra long and the fibers extend further into the leg, big bone structure, and/or en;arged fatty tissue where the foot meets the ankle.
Liposuction or removal of fat from the foot or cankle region is indeed possible, but one needs to be sure they are treating the proper issue. In general plastic surgery above where the foot slips into a high heel shoe should not affect ones ability to get back into shoes.
