I have never been a very good patient and at 57 the last thing I want is to have surgery on my feet multiple times. Can my bunions grow back after undergoing a Bunionplasty®?
Recurrence after bunion surgery is a possibility, however, not common – at least in Dr. Blitz’ bunion surgery practice. When bunions do come back, they re-occur not regrow. A bunion is not a growth of bone, rather a subluxating big toe joint. As such, a return of the bunion is return of the joint subluxation. In my Manhattan foot surgery practice, every patient is evaluated thoroughly and a procedure is selected that best fits the patient.
